Who I am and how this website handles your information.

Who is responsible

This website is operated by Muhammad Fahad Mahmood, a sole trader trading as FenByte and known professionally as Fahad Mahmood. I am the data controller for any personal information described below.

When you contact me

This site has no contact form and collects nothing when you visit. If you choose to email me, either by selecting an email link or by writing to my address directly, I receive whatever you send: your email address, your name if you give it, and the details of your project. Please don’t include passwords, credentials or production access in a first email.

How I use it, and why

I use your email only to reply to you, to discuss the work you ask about and, if we agree to work together, to carry out that work and keep the records the law requires. My lawful basis under UK GDPR is taking steps at your request before entering a contract and, where that doesn’t apply, my legitimate interest in answering business enquiries. I don’t use your details for marketing unless you ask me to, I don’t sell them and I don’t make automated decisions about you.

Who else sees it

Emails are handled by my email provider (Google, for this address) acting on my behalf, and by your own email provider. Those providers may process messages outside the UK under their own safeguards and terms. I don’t share enquiries with anyone else unless the law requires it or you ask me to.

How long I keep it

If we don’t end up working together, I delete enquiry emails within 12 months of the last contact. If we do work together, I keep the relevant correspondence and records for as long as the work, any warranty or follow-up support, and my legal and tax obligations require.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and, where it applies, receive a copy in a portable format. Email me and I’ll respond within one month. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. I’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site sets no cookies and has no analytics, advertising or tracking. If you choose a colour theme, the site stores that single choice (prism, lagoon or sunrise) in your browser’s local storage so it can be remembered on your next visit. It is used only to provide the setting you asked for, it never leaves your device, and you can clear it in your browser settings. Because nothing non-essential is stored, there is no cookie banner.

Fonts, scripts and external links

Fonts, icons and scripts are served from this site, so visiting doesn’t send your details to third-party font or script providers. The site links to LinkedIn, a separate service with its own privacy practices. Web hosts typically keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability; I don’t use those logs for any other purpose.

Open-source software

This site includes open-source components under the MIT and SIL Open Font licences. Their full licence texts are in the third-party notices.

Changes to this notice

If I change how the site handles information, I’ll update this page and its date.
